57th independence anniversary: Pentecostal community pray's for Nigeria

National president of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Felix Omobude, has directed all leaders in the Pentecostal community to use the occasion of the 57th independence anniversary, to lead their congregations in prayers for the nation and leaders at all levels of government.

According to a release signed by Simbo Olorunfemi, Director, Media and Public Relations to the National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Dr. Omobude also urged the leaders to appeal to their members on the need to be patriotic at all times and join hands together in affirmation of the unity of Nigeria.

Whatever the challenges we face as a nation, there is every assurance that we shall overcome as a people. We are confident that our past or present circumstances cannot hold us down as a nation, but will only usher in a better tomorrow for the country and all Nigerians.

The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commiserated with Muslims over the death of Chief Imam, Sheik Garuba Akinola. Akinola died last Sunday after a brief illness at the Lagos State Teaching University (LASUTH).

CAN, in a letter signed by its Secretary, Baba Aladura Israel Akinadewo, said the deceased lived a good life. The body also said the late Chief Imam’s contribution to the State in terms of “religious tolerance and peaceful relationship with the Christian community” remained unequalled. CAN, in the letter dated September 25, prayed for the repose of his soul and comfort for his family.
